Price: $21.95 Sale Price: $15.00
Discover the past one hundred years in Virginia through stories from centenarians. Think about what each has experienced over the course of his or her own century: World War I, the 1918 Flu Epidemic, the Great Depression, World War II, and all that has followed since.
Each has witnessed the advent of electricity, the automobile, the telephone, radio, television, antibioticis, and pharmaceuticals. Each also lived for more than fifty years in a segregated society and then saw firsthand the strides made in civil rights and desegregation. During their early years, these centenarians learned from their elders by listening to stories—narratives told to them by their parents, grandparents, and family members. Now they will share their experiences with you—as they have been "Witness to a Century."
1 disc, approximately 60 minute run time plus nine short features, Commonwealth Public Broadcasting/Virginia Historical Society, 2008.
