Sydney and Frances Lewis have left an indelible mark on both the economic life and the cultural landscape of Virginia and the nation. The success of their catalog showroom company, Best Products, positioned the Lewises to take their contemporary art world by storm. With auspicious purchases and the cultivation of artists and galleries, they used their resources to educate the general public about the most creative and influential art that was being produced in the twentieth century. The Lewises' two philanthropic foundations similarly facilitated this goal, as well as supporting numerous other community projects.
