Child Under TreeChild Under Tree, Virginia (print)

Price: $30.00

This mid-20th century painting by Rockwell Kent reflects the artist's passion to find and paint pristine landscapes in a style that would suggest the freshness of nature as viewed in the clearest light. His distinctly American style is linear and reductive, and uses clean and vivid colors.

The painting depicts a large white oak tree which can be found on the Oak Ridge estate in Nelson County, Virginia, which was originaly built by Thomas Fortune Ryan. By the time of this painting's execution, the property was owned by Ryan's grandson, who was Kent's patron.

The original painting, which is part of the Virginia Historical Society's Lora Robins Collection of Virginia Art, is on display in The Story of Virginia exhibition.

This print is a reproduction of the original 1956 oil on canvas. Print measures 11 x 14 inches.
