The 2002 special edition ornament is patterned after the carousel horse that is included in the Virginia Historical Society's exhibition, The Story of Virginia.
Manufactured in Philadelphia at the turn of the century, the horse amused countless children in Richmond's Forest Hill Park until 1933. After the park closed the horse was moved to West Virginia before returning to Richmond and the VHS in 1996. Reproduced in solid brass, plated in 24 carat gold.
